The Righteous vs The Wicked

A Proverbs Study

“A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man is loathsome, and he acts shamefully.” – Proverbs 13:5 (amplified). ESV reads: “A righteous man hates falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace”. I am experiencing shame and disgrace now because of what my son has committed on society. My son is facing some real jail-time and what I am supposed to feel is shame and disgrace. And there is a part of me that almost felt that this morning. Yet, I am reminded as adults we all make our own decisions and cannot take responsibility for the accountability of others. I know I did the best with what it was that I had at the time. And the cards fell.

A Better Father

Sure, yes, I could have done better as a dad in many ways. I will always feel that way, but what father doesn’t feel that way; good or bad. We could always do better. But I have forgiven myself, and more importantly, God has forgiven me. (1st John 1:9). I wrote a letter to my son last night for the first time in 5 years. I pray He gets it, and he calls me back. I want to talk to him about the word of God which I hear lately he has taken a liking to, which I have been praying for months. God. Answers. Prayers. I sent him my heart on paper; with a bunch of scriptures, I would like for him to meditate on. I told him about apostle Paul and his great escape through worship, (Acts 16) and how we are made new through Christ. I know he regrets his life, what the bible tells us is; it’s not too late. It’s never too late with Christ as long as were breathing.

Dark Corners of the Heart

I reminded my son what his name means, and how is last name means “Son of Glory”. I pray the Holy Spirit lights a fire within his heart, for I know he’s got a battle to fight. Not just with the court system, but more importantly with the spiritual courts where demons have laid claim to his soul and life and corners of his personality for years. Only the Holy Spirit could go through those dark corners of his heart to clean it out. Yet, Jesus saves. He breaks the chains. This is why He died. And He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

The Unfolding

Things are unfolding in the most peculiar ways, and I am here for it. I am here to see what it is the Lord has for me and my family. And whatever it is, I accept it. Please, say a prayer for my son as I plead the blood of Christ over the affairs of my family and their future endeavors, whatever comes, I know this for sure: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, so that whomsoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. (John 3:16).
