Have you ever been betrayed? Have you ever felt betrayed? Have you ever been the betrayer? Well I have. I know what it feels like to betray another, and it is a terrible feeling. In Psalms 41:9 King David writes "Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me."
Jesus
Yet, know one knows betrayal like our Lord and Savior knows betrayal. For He was betrayed by a friend, a friend He has previously washed his feet just the day before. A friend Jesus had spent the last 3 years with, teaching, feeding spiritually, and breaking bread with. And yet and still Judas decided to betray Jesus by bringing the Roman guards to where Jesus resided.
Forgiveness
And yet, Jesus forgave. Jesus said on the cross, "Father forgive them , for they know not what they do". Luke 23:34. But how? How did Jesus let go of the obvious offense of being crucified for doing nothing at all. An innocent man, on the cross for our sins.
Identification
The Lord knew who He was. He did not identify with the moment, the circumstance, or His own life here on earth. I always identified as the Son of God, the Son of Man. "Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am". John 8:58.
What do You Identify with?
Do you identify with your story? Your ethnicity, your gender? I urge you today to let all of that go, and identify with the Creator. For you are the creation on the Almighty Father. For Genesis 1:26 reads: "Let us make man in our image". - Gen 1:26 We get to choose who and what we identify with. Choose Love, for God is Love. "Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8
