"Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man" - Proverbs 6:6-11.
Every Year the Same Thing
This scripture still hits me hard. For I was that man. I remember distinctly when poverty came upon me suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere. Looking back I was just oblivious to the seed and harvest time. I had let it pass by, once again. Proverbs 20:4 reads: "The sluggard does not plow in the autumn, he will seek at harvest and have nothing." As a musician everyone knows that the first 3 months of the year are usually the slowest. Everyone is either licking their wounds of what they spent over the holidays, or it is usually just too cold to want to go out and create events or parties or get married during the months of January to March. And every year during that time I tell myself I'm not gonna let this happen next year. I will not be in lack next year. I will figure something out! But I don't.
Plant Your Seeds
So when I came across this scripture recently I made up my mind to begin planting the seeds, begin the "plow in autumn." This is a big reason on why I started this blog. No its not an immediate money maker, but It can make a positive impact on someone's life immediately. It's also why I started posting A Scripture a Day on my Instagram! And with this mindset I was finally able to finish my book idea which came to me back in 2021!
A Man Plan's But The Lord Directs His Steps
I was obedient this year. I started writing & recording with no clear definitive objective in mind, but only to spread the Word of God. And it has been so fulfilling!! And I am sure that in due time it will create further opportunity for me. Not because of who I am or what I did, but because I was obedient and He is faithful. Before Jesus left this planet He said: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations - Matthew 28:19. So what ever it is today that is on your heart. Take that step, today. Every small step will someday get you to your goal, but you must start today!! Don't wait, God is waiting on you!
