Justice

God is a God of Justice. This fact is all throughout the Scriptures. Yet today, we are focused on Psalms 82:3. Psalms 82 was written by a prominent Levite musician named Asaph. He was a worship leader appointed by King David. Asaph writes in verse 3: "Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute."
What is Justice?
Justice is right standing. Justice is an equal balance. Justice is equality. The book of Proverbs says the Lord hates an unjust balance. Proverbs 20:10 reads "Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord." Micah 6:8 reads: He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God." This means, the Creator of all things requires us to administer justice within our lives. Justice within our families, our communities, our workplace, and even within ourselves.
Who does God want justice for?
In this verse, it is clear Asaph is asking for justice for the weak and the fatherless, also the afflicted and the destitute. 2nd Corinthians 12:9 speaks of Pauls of the "thorn" given to him to by God keep him humble. And when Paul prayed to God the Father to take the thorn away from him Jesus responded "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness". This scripture first points to Gods grace, in which we are saved by. For Ephesians 2:8 reads: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doin; it is the gift of God." Yet, that grace can only be experienced if we believe, as it says we are saved by grace through faith.
Believe
When we believe in God's love and grace for ourselves and our lives, we can begin to trust Him in and with everything. Including your relationships. You can fall back into His Fatherly and protective arms and trust and believe He will fight for you. No longer do you have to clap back at the opposition. Your Father can and will fight for you and protect you from harm. As it says in Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." In this sense you can boast in your weakness as Paul does in 2nd Corinthians 12, because His power is made perfect in weakness.
The Fatherless
I would be considered in this category, as I have never had a father in my home growing up, nor have I ever received anything from my father in all the years that he was alive. Yet, I don't feel like my father owed me anything, therefore I'm not looking for justice. However, I do see where I have fallen short as a man, a father and a husband at times, probably because I did not have a role model, a mentor, or someone to show me the right way to be a man, a father and a husband. But my Father in heaven, and His son Jesus Christ. He is the greatest example of all on how to be a better man, father, and husband. So I read His book daily for secret nuggets of wisdom. And I search the scriptures continuously so the Holy Spirit can minister to me what it is the Lord God wants to reveal to me. I did not have an earthly father, but later I was introduced to the Greatest Father.
The Lord
So the Lord will bring justice to the weak, the fatherless, the afflicted and the destitute, and so if you feel like you are in any of these categories, or maybe all of them, rest assured, if and when you call out to Him, He will be there for you; for the Word says: "The Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" - Psalms 34:18.
