"Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! May He judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice." Psalms 72:1-2. This is a chapter where the author is praying for the for a blessing for the current king of Israel and for him to judge the people with justice and righteousness. What does these verses tell you about God? It reminds me of the story in 1st Samuel chapter 8.
Justice & Righteousness
These scriptures remind me that our God is a God of justice & righteousness. But what is Justice & Righteousness? And most importantly, what is it to God. According to the Bible, God is a God of justice and He must see to it that ultimately justice is fulfilled. This is why judgement day, must occur. "A just balance and scales are the Lord's; all the weights in the bag are his work. - Prov. 16:11. God is also a God of righteousness, (perfectly holy, just and morally upright in all actions and judgements. And we were made in His image according to the book of Genesis, therefore we must "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience." -Col. 3:12.
Pray for our Leaders
This prayer they say was written by Solomon but some have debated it was written by David. This entire chapter is a prayer for the King of Israel then it turns into a blessing for the God of Israel. God wants us to pray for our leaders. And God will answer our prayers. Its important that we pray for our leaders, especially now in a time of war. Regardless of if your agree with everything that leader does. Our leadership is there for a reason and a purpose. I don't agree with much that President Trump does, yet I have come to terms with accepting him as the President of America, therefore, I must start praying for him and all of his administration as well. I can admit, I have not lately, but I must start.
Man vs God
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." In 1st Samuel chapter 8 the scriptures detail a story of the children of Israel asking God for a king. Though God was their king, they wanted a king of flesh like the neighboring cities and tribes. After God had brought them out of Egypt, split the Red Sea, made water gush from a stone, and fed them angels food in the desert, they still wanted to be ruled by a man.
President Trump
So God told Samuel to anoint them a king, but he relented with a warning; telling the children of Israel that this king would enslave them, tax them and sent their sons and daughters into war, and this is what King Saul did soon after being anointed by the Prophet Samuel. This story reminds me of Trump. We as Americans began to turn our backs on God once we began to condone same sex marriage, ramp up the abortion conversation and protect pedo's. So we suffer, with the leader we have asked for; yet, we still must pray for our leaders. For "The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever He will. Prov. 21:1.
